Veteran’s Day program honors local heroes

Lura Sharp Elementary School held a very special Veterans’ Day ceremony to honor the men and women of the Armed Forces for their service and mark the holiday. The students invited members of their family or neighbors who have or are currently serving in the Armed Forces to the patriotic event coordinated by Kelly Shumway, a teacher at the school.

Master’s candidates to ‘Instill’ exhibition with graphic arts passions

Two SUNY Oswego master’s candidates in graphic arts will open an MA Thesis Exhibition titled “Instill” on Nov. 22, in Tyler Art Gallery on campus. Bachelor of fine arts candidates will open a companion display, and participate in the free public artists’ reception that day from 5 to 7 p.m. at the gallery. Bachelor of arts degree recipients also will hold an exhibition in a gallery in Room 201 and elsewhere around Tyler Hall.

Lanigan students learn about Iroquois

Fourth-grade students at Lanigan Elementary received a unique history lesson Thursday morning as performer and educator Dave Ruch used music to engage his audience and teach them about Iroquois culture. During the presentation, students displayed their knowledge on the topic while Ruch peppered them with questions about every aspect of Iroquois life.

Positively Parish News – Week of 11/08/2013

More than 90 people gathered at the Parish Fire Station on Tuesday evening October 29 to partake in a delicious candlelight dinner (without the candles).  The broccoli cream soup, chicken cordon bleu, baked potatoes and carrots were prepared by Oswego County Opportunities. A yummy cheesecake was served for dessert.
