“Santa’s helpers” are busy at St. Luke Health Services, making sure there will be plenty of specially wrapped gifts for residents to be found under the Christmas tree this year! A contingent of volunteers spent hours upon hours wrapping over eight hundred presents that will be gifted to residents at one of the many family Christmas parties taking place during the coming week.

The Oswego-Fulton Episcopal-Lutheran Faith Partnerships invites the community to a special Blue Christmas service December 18 at 7 p.m., at Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 120 W. Fifth St.

Oswego High School Executive  Principal Brian Hartwell is proud to announce the honor rolls for the first quarter marking period.

The Oswego Middle School Student Council is conducting a “Team Hallway Decorating Contest” to benefit the Salvation Army. Students and staff are asked to bring non-perishable food items and donate them to the team with the best hallway.

Local residents named members of SUNY Delhi’s New York State Association of Veterinary Technicians for the 2013-14 academic year. The New York State Association of Veterinary Technicians is one of more than 50 recognized student organizations found on the SUNY Delhi campus.

A girls’ fastpitch softball hitting/pitching clinic will be held Sunday mornings from January 5 through February 23 at the Oswego YMCA Armory. The clinic is open to all girls in grades 5-12 who are interested in softball and would like to develop their skills before the school or summer ball seasons begin.

Assemblyman Will Barclay recently met with foreign exchange students who are staying in the region from all over the world through the Greenheart of Cultural Exchange. The locally-run organization promotes cultural understanding, academic development, environmental consciousness and world peace.

On December 7, Larry Backus, Chief of the Scriba Fire Department, welcomed eighteen Rotary exchange students to the fire station. They enjoyed the opportunity to learn about the role of the volunteer fire fighter in our community, the training involved and the equipment used at fire and accident scenes.

To kick off the month of December, 37 students from John C. Birdlebough’s Student Council Leadership Team met up with senior citizen from three area nursing homes to take them shopping for the holidays.
