Positively Parish News – Week of April 27, 2013

Pat found a black and white female cat which had been hit by an auto within 3 miles south of North Country Veterinary Hospital on the morning of April 23. He took it to North Country (where he had just been with Earl Gray Cat, which suffered a similar injury) so is now having it treated for head injury and a broken hind leg.

New field station rises; faculty, staff to move in this summer

The new home of SUNY Oswego’s Rice Creek Field Station will open for fall-semester classes in late August, and trails will remain open to the public as construction wraps up. Rice Creek’s faculty and staff, along with its collections totaling 4,500 specimens, will move into the new 7,200-square-foot field station beginning July 8.

Record Numbers Attend Oswego War of 1812 Symposium

Eleven speakers from across the U.S. and Canada explored a variety of War of 1812 topics, including military training and battle analysis, maritime and military archeology, naval history, wartime society and commerce, espionage, and the art of war. Participants also discovered engaging exhibits, living history demonstrators and historical authors who presented and signed their works.
