The following Volney Elementary School students were recognized during the December assembly for the character virtue of empathy

The G. Ray Bodley (GRB) High School Holiday Concert was held recently and in welcoming the audience, GRB Principal Donna Parkhurst told them, “You’ll leave our show tonight singing, and in the holiday mood!”

Sandy Creek Elementary School students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade held their holiday concert recently where family, friends and community members were treated to a wonderful and entertaining seasonal delight.

The city of Oswego Fire Department will host a community blood drive on January 10. It will be held from noon to 5 p.m. at the Eastside Fire Station, 35 E. Cayuga St.

The Oz Roller Derby league will host a Recruitment Night at 7 p.m. Wednesday and Sunday at 11 a.m. for a number of roles in Oswego’s fastest growing sport.

It’s not too late to sign up for a Digital Photography class Saturday, with professional photographer Jim Russell. Russell will discuss the various settings found in digital cameras, how to take a good photo, and how to import photos from your digital camera onto your computer.

Now that the holidays are winding down, many people are looking to make a fresh start in the New Year. Whether it’s vowing to hit the gym several times a week, cutting back on spending, or keeping in better touch with old friends, we decide to make these resolutions with one goal in mind: bettering ourselves and the world around us.

The beginning of a new year is a great time to begin a new hobby or spend more time doing something you love. The CNY Arts Center has two programs for people who love to write or would like to explore being a writer.
