With the first quarter of the school year behind them and their buckets filled to the brim, students at the school were rewarded with a PBIS celebration and an opportunity to watch a movie or participate in a fun activity of their choice.

“Principal for a Day” was an honor that was recently bestowed upon two Frederick Leighton Elementary School students. As part of the celebration of reading second grader Anna Cloonan and fifth grader Abby McPherson partnered with Principal Julie Burger for an entire day.

Technology has drastically evolved over the years to become one of the most powerful tools in education. An example of this at the Sandy Creek Central School District is the availability of handheld touchscreen tablets known as iPads.

Jesse Klefbeck, David Britt and Matthew Williams were raised to the degree of Master Mason on November 27 at Lake City Lodge No. 127 in Oswego. The Masons gathered for a meal of meatloaf and mashed potatoes prepared by Victoria Lake City Easter Star.

The Friends of the Oswego Library present an author talk and book signing with Christie Casciano, author of The Puck Hog Volume 2: Haunted Hockey in Lake Placid. It will be held at the Oswego Public Library Community Room December 5 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The Oswego Film Group presents a free screening of the 1940 romantic comedy/drama Remember the Night on December 12 at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Oswego Public Library, 120 E. Second St.

The holiday family spirit is alive and well on the Oswego Players’ stage, with multiple members of five families having roles in director Troy Pepper’s, “It’s a Wonderful Life.”

Emily Heagerty, a resident of Oswego, has been accepted at Coastal Carolina University for the Fall 2013 semester. Emily, a Oswego High School student, plans to major in Exercise and Sport Science.

The Hannibal Historical Society will be selling pewter Christmas ornaments on December 8 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Village Market in Hannibal.
