The challenge for the students was simple: read, read, read and keep a log of the reading that they do all summer long. In return, the teachers promised to take a few pies to the face during a school-wide assembly at the start of the 2012-2013 school year.

School Principal Bob Briggs presented the role model students with certificates during a PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) character education assembly that took place at the school on September 28.

A Zumbathon charity event will be held at the Fulton Family YMCA on Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. until noon benefiting Susan G. Koman “For the Cure.” All proceeds will be donated to fund breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment programs.

Jim Jones, director of Oswego County Emergency Medical Services, recently spoke to the Fulton Noon Rotary Club about the services currently being provided in Oswego County.

The walk is organized by the Central New York Chapter of the American Federation of Suicide Prevention, which raises awareness through education, research and outreach.

Owner, baker and cake designer Kathy Hotaling said her shop celebrated their third anniversary in May and she hopes this open house will serve to enlighten the community to all her business has to offer.

Cynthia Clabough will take on the pain of loss by reconvening family and environment, giving new life to those in her past in a free mixed-media exhibition to open  Oct. 19, at SUNY Oswego’s Tyler Art Gallery.

The Sixth Ward Neighborhood Watch group will be meeting at the Fulton Education Center, 167 S. Fourth St., from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the auditorium on the following dates:
Oct. 15, Nov. 26, Dec. 17 and Jan. 21, 2013.

Bus drills are done twice a year to prepare them for riding the bus when they go to elementary school.
