The Oswego County Health Department encourages residents to observe National Cholesterol Education Month this September and have their cholesterol tested.

All Oswego County youth and family members are invited to celebrate the autumn season on Oct. 20 at the Hollis Harvest. This free event runs from 3 to 8 p.m. at Camp Hollis just off Lakeshore Road in Oswego.

The event is a fundraiser for the Upstate Physical Therapy Club and Move Along Inc., which emphasizes physical and cognitive growth through programs such as wheelchair basketball and adaptive cycling and ice hockey.

Oswego Health will host an open house and tours of the Central Square Medical Center from 4 to 7 p.m., September 27 at the new outpatient facility, located at 3045 East Avenue (Route 49) in the village of Central Square.

Dick Eastman, editor of Eastman’s Online Genealogy Newsletter and popular genealogy speaker, will present four workshops at the annual Heritage Hunters Fall Conference.

On Oct. 30, SUNY Oswego’s Office of Business and Community Relations and the Women’s Network for Entrepreneurial Training will gather women from across New York State for “Connections,” a day-long conference to be held at The American Foundry from 8  a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Oswego Tree Stewards are staring their Volunteer Oswego Tree Stewards work on the public city trees this weekend.

State Senator Patty Ritchie recently attended the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce’s State of the Art Region Breakfast, held on the SUNY Oswego campus.

Apples may keep the doctor away as the old saying goes, but it won’t keep Oswego Health away from the Lioness Club’s apple festival to be held in the village of Central Square on Sept. 29 and 30.
