SUNY Oswego’s Retired and Senior Volunteer Program will hold a falls-prevention workshop Oct. 2, for volunteers interested in providing instruction for a better-balance exercise regimen.

As September marks the 11th anniversary of National Preparedness Month, the Oswego County Health Department reminds individuals and families to prepare for natural and man-made disasters.

Recently, eight SUNY colleges appeared on  the U.S. News & World Report’s list of the top public regional universities in the North.  The list, which ranks the colleges based on criteria such as selectivity, retention, graduation rates and more, included both SUNY Oswego and SUNY Potsdam.

Twenty children participated in a kids fishing class conducted by local author Spider Rybaak and McGrath & Associates Carp Angling Services on August 16.

The artwork will be on display during the event from noon to 3 p.m. at Fairgrieve Elementary School, 716 Academy St. in Fulton.

Beginning September 26 OCO, in collaboration with the Oswego County Health Department will host Living Healthy NY community workshops.

SUNY Oswego and the state’s energy-innovation office have teamed up to let local small-business owners know about free intensive energy efficiency audits.

“With the hot dry summer we have had, some people are using bulk water to supplement their wells,” said Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang. “This is water intended for human consumption and transported by tank trucks. Haulers must be certified by the New York State Department of Health to sell or deliver bulk water.”
