DSS Staff Presents Donatation to Project Lifesaver

January 3, 2012 Submitted article

Members of the Oswego County Department of Social Services Employees’ Staff Association presented a check for $320 to Michael Allen, director of the Oswego E-911 Center as the Oswego County Legislature’s Public Safety and Emergency Services Committee looked on. The donation will go toward new equipment for Project Lifesaver (PLS) in Oswego County. PLS assists in the location of people who wander due to cognitive conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, Down syndrome, dementia, and autism. In 2011, the Oswego County Sheriff’s Department Project Lifesaver Personnel and the Oswego County Search & Rescue Team were called out on two separate occasions to locate a missing resident. These teams are trained to respond with PLS receiver equipment that pinpoints the location of the lost client using their PLS transmitter bracelet.
