State Senator Patty Ritchie met with a group of Oswego area school superintendents recently to discuss the impact of New York State’s school aid formula on rural low wealth school districts.
Oswego County BOCES’ (OCB) Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds (SBG), Wayne Wideman was recently elected the New York State Association for Superintendents of School Buildings and Grounds Third Vice President.
Events that take place between April and October will be posted on the county tourism Web site and listed in the calendar, which is widely distributed at travel and vacation shows, chambers of commerce, NYS Thruway information centers, businesses and other outlets.
“The silver anniversary of the silent auction is going to be a special one. Some of the finest antique furnishings and objects ever donated will be featured. There is something for everyone,” said Peg McKinstry, board trustee and co-chair of the event.
Last week, I had the opportunity to talk to Miss New York State Kaitlin Monte about bullying and how it can sometimes help drive people to suicide. That’s one of the reason I have posted a link to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline on my Senate website to make people aware that suicide prevention can save lives.
USGS Lake Ontario Biological Station Director Dr. Brian F. Lantry said, “This workshop was the best and most useful I have ever attended. The numerous emails USGS has received attest to participants feeling the same. This type of work makes a realistic, practical contribution to science.”
The H. Lee White Marine Museum and the Oswego Railroad Museum are hosting a series of model building workshops. This is one of several activities leading up to the marine museum’s premier fundraising event, “A Titanic Affair,” on April 14.
In an effort to attract more visitors, the Oswego County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning has launched a new snowmobiling microsite that highlights businesses and services near the county’s trail system.
ARC of Oswego County, in partnership with Kidz Club, will be providing children with special needs, their parents and siblings, with an opportunity for community inclusion and socialization through exploration and imaginative play of toys in a kid friendly play zone.
