Flash Mob Creates Fireworks Display During APW MS Assembly

July 5, 2011 Contributor

In the midst of a sports awards ceremony at the Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Middle School, a fireworks display took place. Not the explosive pyrotechnic type of display, but still a crowd pleasing, excitement building performance. A flash mob, consisting of students and staff at the school burst forth and began to dance in synchronicity to the pop song “Firework” by Katy Perry. The routine was choreographed by APW 8th grader Carissa Sweet, who developed the steps in the dance and then taught it to the other participants in the days prior to the assembly. Many of the dancers wore t-shirts that read APW Fireworks 2011. As the song ended and the routine came to a close, the dancers turned away from the crowd and written on the backs of their shirts was the message, “You’ve been mobbed!” The crowd erupted in cheers. Pictured above are some of the dancers during the flash mob, including Sweet, second from left, and you can see in the back row a few of the many teachers who also participated in the experience. In the midst of a sports awards ceremony at the Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Middle School, a fireworks display took place.
