Tim Ames of Oswego is July’s featured artist at Lakeside Artisans. Tim, one of the founders and president of the 20-member artists’ co-op, specializes in landscapes in acrylics.
Kingford Park Home and School Inc. awarded two scholarships in the amount of $500 each to KPS alumni Colin Morgan and Christopher Pike. This is the second year that KPS Home and School has awarded scholarship dollars to students who attended grades K – 6 at the elementary school.
Fairgrieve Elementary School hosted a Promotion Ceremony the last week of school to commemorate the sixth grade students’ seven years of academic achievements and celebrate as they begin a new chapter in their educational journey at the Fulton Junior High School.
SUNY Oswego’s fundraising effort on behalf of Wear Red Day earned the college two awards recently from the American Heart Association’s Greater Syracuse and North Country Division.
“Food that’s in when school is out” is the theme of this summer’s effort to provide a healthy breakfast and lunch to teenagers and youngsters 18 years of age and under.
The value of the booklets is $20. All persons aged 60 and over whose gross income is at or below 185 percent of federal poverty guidelines ($1,679 monthly for a single person or $2,268 monthly for a married couple) are eligible to participate in the program.
“Thursday Artists” activities will be drop-in type with no formal instruction, designed so people can wander in and participate for a short period of time and wander out with something they have made themselves.
Facilitated by Kathleen Hayden of REACH CNY, the shower featured an enlightening presentation regarding the expectations of motherhood and the benefits of breastfeeding. Kim Kelley, certified lactation counselor with OCO’s WIC program, said that the event was a perfect compliment to the efforts of the program’s peer counselors.
Scheduled for Aug. 13 and 14, Catholic Charities of Oswego County’s Co-Ed Volleyball Tournament serves as a fundraiser for the agency’s food pantry and CYO program.
Staff from Catholic Charities of Oswego County’s Family Support Services program display some of the materials that will be used during several summer groups the program will be hosting for area youth ages 6 through 10.
