When John and I were in Roscommon, Ireland, during June 2011 I contacted Sarah Browne to set up a cooking experience featuring Irish food. I was surprised to learn that in Ireland the traditional dish is bacon and cabbage served with a side of Savoy cabbage boiled in the bacon water, accompanied by champ which is mashed potatoes seasoned with scallions, milk, and butter along with salt and pepper.

Dancer and college professor Ligia Pinheiro will present a free lecture-demonstration on “Telling Tales Through Dance” March 25, at SUNY Oswego. Illustrating the changing meaning of gesture in dance history, Pinheiro will appear at 3 p.m. in the Sheldon Hall ballroom.

Quirk’s Players’ upcoming production of the musical comedy, Damn Yankees, will be presented March 8-9-10 in the GR Bodley Auditorium.
Loveable Baseball Players Featured in Damn Yankees
Performances for Damn Yankees are scheduled for March 8, 9 and 10 in the Bodley H.S. Auditorium. Curtain time is set for 7:30 each evening. Additionally there will be a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday. “Damn Yankees is a great story with wonderful music,” explained Tom Briggs, theatre director at Bodley. “It is a story of love, self-discovery and baseball. Set in the nostalgic 1950s, Damn Yankees is thought provoking and moving.”

Cuarteto Latinoamericano, known worldwide as the leading proponent of Latin American music for string quartet, will perform March 21 at SUNY Oswego as part of the Ke-Nekt Chamber Music Series.
