This summer, Fort Ontario State Historic Site in Oswego, will host nine separate – (one week long) military history activity sessions for children ages 8-18. The sessions will be led by AmeriCorps staffer Ian Mumpton. The programming is aimed at getting young people outside and active during the summer.
The Native Circle Touch the Earth Festival returns to the shores of Great Lake Ontario this weekend. Admission and parking are free for this two-day event at Mexico Point State Park, just off state Route 104B. The festival will run from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
This Friday evening is one of the major musical events of the year. An “Evening of Big Band Jazz” will showcase the Oswego Middle School Jazz Band as well as the Oswego High School A and B Jazz Ensembles. This year’s featured guest will be Lew Soloff who is known for his performances with Blood, Sweat and Tears.
Members of the Fulton Community Band are from Red Creek, Oswego, Phoenix, Chittenango, Cicero, Liverpool, Fair Haven, Parish, Baldwinsville and Fulton. Included are active and retired teachers, people from all walks of life ranging in age from high school students thru those in their 70’s.
Doctor Boogie is back at it again with their unique blend of amped up rock covers and catchy originals.
Hands-on art, face painting, a stone-skipping contest, and a pinata are just part of the fun and learning that will take place Sunday, June 5 at Mexico Point Park at the mouth of the Little Salmon River on Lake Ontario.
Trinity Catholic School will be hosting Death in the Ivy Halls, an interactive murder mystery musical comedy dinner theater, on Friday, May 20, at the Oswego Elks Club. The fun begins with a cocktail hour at 6 p.m. followed by dinner and the show starting at 7 p.m.
The 30th Annual Memorial Day Salute, May 27th and 28th, held at the Fulton Community Center on West Broadway, will feature a regional favorite, Doctor Boogie. This popular band will perform on Friday night, May 27th at 7 PM.
On Saturday night, May 28th, nationally acclaimed American pop-rock band, Orleans, sponsored by Fulton Savings Bank, will take the stage at 8 PM.
Visitors to Oswego County will find more than 100 things to do, from patriotic celebrations to fishing tournaments and outdoor concerts, between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
