PAWS of CNY, Inc. will hold free therapy dog evaluations by appointment only at Paws and Effect on Route 1 in Oswego on May 20. Members of the Oswego community who are interested in certifying their dog or cat to participate in PAWS of CNY’s pet therapy program are encouraged to submit an application to PAWS of CNY and book an appointment.
This is Sandy, the last of the Sweet 16, rescued from a collapsed house in Boylston. She’s best buds with Mittens, but he has found a home. She is a sweet old girl. Quite timid at first, but she will “demand” attention by lifting herself up to meet your down-stretched hand. And once she gets to know you, she’s a love.
This is our resident “old man,” Mittens. He’s one of the Sweet 16 and desperately seeking his very own home again. He is SO loving and good tempered. Don’t mind his naked front legs! He’s been licking them because he is bored and lonely and stressed out. He would not be doing it if he were sitting in your lap, purring.
It’s almost Easter and maybe you are thinking adorable little bunnies or chicks should be a part of your life, or your kids’ life, or your grandchildren’s life. If you are a regular reader of this column then you probably know that we think that the practice of running out and buying baby chicks and rabbits as an Easter gift is a really really bad idea.
Queenie is one of the Boylston Sweet 16 – really happy to be in a place where the roof stays up. But, she would love a roof of her own where she could hold court. She is about six months old, likes other cats, warms up to new people easily, and has been around a dog in her foster home with no issues.
Assuming there is a grand scheme for things, did you ever wonder where ticks fit in? Think about it. Lots of other “creepy-crawlies,” for lack of a better term, fill an important niche in the ecosystem. But ticks? Do we really need them?
Well, here we go again! Under the Obama administration, the US Fish and Wildlife Service implemented a rule that prohibited certain hunting methods on 76 million acres of federal land in Alaska. On February 17, the House of Representatives passed H.R. Resolution 69, which is the first step in revoking the rule under the Congressional Review Act. Claudia Tenney, John Katko and Tom Reed all voted in favor of the resolution.
