Student council members in grades three through six at Fairgrieve Elementary are making an impact beyond the walls of their school. Caring about community and making effective changes for citizens are what the youngsters have accomplished and continue to work on throughout the 2017-18 school year.
The Robinson-Faust Theatre for the Performing Arts at Oswego High School was transformed into the dingy streets and seedy back alleys of Victorian London this weekend as crowds packed for the OHS Music Department’s groundbreaking performance of “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.”
William Dexter, who represents the Oswego Railroad Museum, will speak on the railroad history in the Oswego – Hannibal area. The Hannibal Historical Society will host the event, Feb. 26.

Health promotion and wellness students from a SUNY Oswego class gave St. Francis Commons residents a zest for life last fall with a Zestful Living exercise and nutrition program that continues this spring. St. Francis Commons at St. Luke, an assisted living residence at 12 Burkle St. in Oswego, opened in 2013 for older adults who wish to be independent and active, but may need help with daily activities.
Students in the Career and Technical Education Nursing Assistant and New Vision Allied Health programs got a first-hand look this month at the organization and protocols involved with a large-scale public health event as part of the CiTi – American Red Cross blood drive.
Dean’s List designation is reserved for students who excel academically and earn at least a 3.3 grade-point average in a semester with a full-time course load.
At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting, Rotarian LaVerne DeLand introduced Alex Seymour, who after working 34 years as a telephone repairman, became a collector of telephone memorabilia.
Gold and Silver Star recognitions for the second academic quarter were recently announced for students of Emerson J. Dillon Middle school. Students are awarded a Gold Star for achieving a quarterly report card average of 90 or higher. A Silver Star is awarded for a quarterly report card average of 85 to 89.99.
