Accomplished concert instrumentalists Trevor Jorgensen on saxophone, oboe and clarinet and accompanist Robert Auler on piano will present a Focus on Faculty recital titled “Timepieces” at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, in SUNY Oswego’s Sheldon Hall ballroom.
U.S. Rep. John Katko today (Feb. 9) announced that, following passage of the Bipartisan Budget Act, which he supported, Oswego Health will receive $1.4 million to continue to serve those most in need. The budget agreement provides a five-year extension of the Medicare low-volume adjustment policy, which provides special Medicare payments to certain small and low-volume hospitals.
These students were identified and nominated by their L-LC faculty mentors and upperclassmen for having demonstrated leadership within their communities.
In an effort to promote literacy among young students, Senate Select Committee on Libraries Chair Senator Patty Ritchie is encouraging students to ‘check out’ their local libraries during the month of February through her Winter Reading Program. This year, the program is inviting students in grades kindergarten through eighth to visit their local library and take a ‘shelfie,’ which is a ‘selfie’ taken in a library with a favorite book.
Five Youth Advisory Council students from the Phoenix Central School District visited Albany on February 5 and 6 to represent Oswego County and meet with New York State senators and assemblymen at a Youth Leadership Forum sponsored by the Association of New York State Youth Bureaus.
Eight students now have their artwork displayed through March 2 at the Whitney Applied Technology Center at Onondaga Community College, Syracuse, to show Central New York residents how hard they worked on their pieces.
SUNY Oswego’s Penfield Library Maker Services will partner with the Zonta Club of Oswego and celebrate International Women’s Day with Maker Madness, an interactive and hands-on event on the library’s second floor from 1 to 5 p.m. March 3. This free event is open to the Oswego campus and community and offers a family-friendly atmosphere where science, technology, engineering, art or math (STEAM) enthusiasts can demonstrate and learn different skills.
Most Reverend Bishop Robert J. Cunningham will celebrate Ash Wednesday Mass and distribute ashes at 12:10 p.m. on Wednesday, February 14, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Church in Syracuse. Mass will also be celebrated and ashes will be distributed at the Cathedral at 7:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 5:10 p.m.
Students donated dozens of hand-crafted, pint-sized blankets to the Maternity Center for distribution to families in the first few hours after a newborn’s arrival.
