The Oswego Elks Lodge #271 will observe a Memorial Sunday service on December 3 at 1:30 p.m. in the Huckabee-Manor Hall of the Oswego Elks Lodge #271, 132 W. Fifth St., Oswego. The ceremony is open to the public.
The Oswego County Pioneer Search and Rescue Team will hold a pancake breakfast with all the fixings from 8 a.m. to noon Nov. 19 at the Lake City Masonic Lodge, 765 E. Seneca St., Oswego. The event is the team’s major fundraiser.
Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church will hold its annual Harvest Turkey Supper and Bazaar from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, October 28. Serving family style will be roast turkey and all the trimmings.
There will be craft shows held at three locations in New Haven November 11 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. The shows will be held at the New Haven Fire Station, 4211 State Route 104, the Congregational Church, 4270 State Route 104 and the Community Alliance Church, 4175 State Route 104.

About 150 Mexico Middle School seventh graders recently learned that all of those benefits may be interrupted or impossible if people don’t start taking better care of their environment.
Awardees were nominated by their teacher for the monthly honor for reasons such as following directions, not speaking out of turn, completing work as told, being proactive and showing responsibility, among several other actions.
Students at Oswego Middle School are frequently given encouragement about making good life choices, sustaining a positive attitude and the power of setting goals. But, on Wednesday (Oct. 25), former wrestling champion Marc Mero gave the packed gymnasium a show they’re not likely to forget.
The monthly award was given to students who were nominated by their classroom teacher for believing in themselves and persevering for a personal achievement. Awardees were recognized during a recent Morning Express program in front of their peers, teachers and guests.
From the Port City to Hollywood and back again, Oswego High School’s own Gary Carpentier visited with students on Wednesday morning (Oct. 25), telling them to follow their passion and cherish their time as Buccaneers. Carpentier, OHS Class of 2009, recently appeared as a finalist on NBC’s singing competition program “The Voice. “This is where it all started,” said Carpentier, speaking in music teacher Robert Dumas’ classroom on Wednesday to members of the OHS Chorale, Chamber Singers and Concert Choir ensembles.
