Summer’s end and early autumn mark the last phase of parental activity for breeding owls. Courtship, egg laying, incubation, brooding, hunting and feeding of the nestlings have occupied the adults from late winter until now.

Faced with poverty and tough times, the residents are surprised and pleased to learn that their friend Seymour Krelbourn has achieved success with the discovery of a new plant. The story of Seymour and his strange plant will be presented in the Broadway musical Little Shop of Horrors at G. Ray Bodley High School.
Award-winning Chinese watercolorist Zhinan Jiang, now a visiting professor of art at SUNY Oswego, did not know after a car crash in 1999 whether he would live or, if he did, whether he would walk, talk or paint ever again. Thanks to life-saving care and rehabilitation, for which he is forever grateful, Jiang returned to all that and to enjoy time with a daughter born during his recovery.

The Mexico Academy & Central School District sought to educate and motive students throughout the summer months to help them carry successes and achievements to the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year. A couple hundred MACS students, from kindergartners up to high schoolers, enjoyed summer learning activities which targeted instruction, recovery of credits and/or social-emotional growth.
