In celebration of Endangered Species Day, the Blue Team at Stepping Stones Day Program reaffirmed its commitment to protecting wildlife. As the students in Robyn Yorker’s classroom learned about the national day, they learned about New York State’s wildlife and how to get involved in protecting endangered species and their habitats.
Fulton City School District students in grades five and six learned an important lesson in history when Holocaust survivor Marion Blumenthal Lazan recently spoke to the large group: spread the message before the history is forgotten.
Two local non-profit organizations got a boost over the weekend. Oswego Industries, Inc., held a community yard sale to raise funds for the agency’s accessible play area. At the end of the yard sale, Oswego SPCA volunteers arrived to collect leftover items to use in their annual garage sale fundraiser on Saturday, May 27.

Who wants to have a grand opening celebration in January? Not Riverside Artisans. Everyone knows that June in Oswego is great, so they postponed the opening until June, just to have nicer weather. To celebrate the opening (and the return of warm weather), Riverside Artisans has planned an open house for the community from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on June 3.
The Oswego Lions Club with host the sixth annual Rivers Edge “handmade” Craft Show on June 11. The event will take place at Breitbeck Park, on the west side of Oswego.
You may have noticed, if you check out our Facebook page, our recent efforts to find a good home for Buster, an enthusiastic but somewhat unruly Jack Russell Terrier who had lost his original home because of a family illness. We think we succeeded in that effort and have high hopes that Buster will thrive in his new home. One of the questions that many people asked about Buster (and really all dogs that we have available for adoption) was “How is he with cats?”
The 22nd Annual United Way of Greater Oswego County Golf Tournament is welcoming major sponsorship from strong community supporters again this year, including Exelon Generation, Novelis, National Grid, and Burritt Motors. The Oswego Public Library invites the public to attend the 160th anniversary of the opening of the building on June 14, at 5:30 p.m. The Oswego Public Library opened its doors for the first time in 1857, making it now America’s oldest public library still in its original building.
