Fatal Accident in Oswego County

OSWEGO COUNTY – The evening of May 17^th, 2026, at around 5:07 PM, members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a two-vehicle motor vehicle accident on State Route 48, near the intersection with Jones Rd, in the Town of Granby.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2014 Buick Encore was traveling southbound on State Route 48 when it began to slow due to traffic ahead.  Behind the Buick was a 2016 Victory motorcycle.  The operator of the motorcycle, identified as Andrew Christiansen, 39, of Chittenango, attempted to stop behind the Buick, but struck the rear end of it.  Andrew was pronounced dead on scene.  The operator of the Buick, Brittney Vroman, 29, of Hannibal, and her passengers were uninjured.

The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Granby Volunteer Fire Department, Fulton City Police Department, and Menter Ambulance.

The incident is still under investigation.
