Students in both the morning and afternoon Pre-K classes worked hard to learn “M-O-M-M-Y” (sung to the tune of B-I-N-G-O) and “Skinnamarinky Dinky Dink” before they performed it during the recent event.
The Oswego County Office for the Aging will celebrate its 40th anniversary with an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. May 31. The agency is located in the Oswego County Office Complex, 70 Bunner St., Oswego.
Staff, family, and friends of the Oswego County Department of Social Services gathered to show their support for one of Oswego County’s most vital agencies, United Way, as they participated in the seventh annual DSS Spring Fling Bowl-a-Thon at Lakeview Lanes in Fulton.
The Oswego City School District Board of Education will meet on Tuesday, May 16, at 5 p.m. in the board room of the Education Center. Also, May 16 is the district’s budget/board member vote.
Juniors and seniors in the Phoenix Central School District received a sobering lesson during a recent mock DWI presentation. Every other year, in the weeks leading up to prom and before summer break, the district teams with the Oswego County STOP DWI program to teach high school students about the dangers of drunken and distracted driving.
The annual Family Science night offered students stations where they learned about types of bones, carnivorous plants and how to plant vegetable and flower seeds.
On May 7, 29 seventh graders from Oswego Middle School were inducted into the Eagle’s Nest Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society. Members were selected based on the five pillars of NJHS, which include: scholarship, leadership, service, character and citizenship.
The Oswego Sunrise Rotary Club recently welcomed Richard Sivers, president of the Oswego Players, to discuss his adaptation of “My War With the United States,” a memoir by Ludwig Bemelmans, into a comedic play. Bemelmans, the author of the “Madeline” series of children’s books, was stationed at Fort Ontario in 1917 during World War I.
There will be a roast pork dinner with all the fixings including dessert, at Grace Lutheran Church, 201 E. Sixth St. Serving will be May 20 from 5 to 7 p.m.
