The annual book sale at Oswego’s Episcopal church — from May 18 to 21 — will offer thousands of used books and other media for sale to the general public. Hours will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, May 18 to 20, and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 21.

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and the U.S. Power Squadron are teaming up with the H. L. White Maritime Museum and other agencies here to teach boating safety and offer vessel safety checks during the museum’s waterfront open house on May 20.

Executive Director of Oswego County Opportunities Diane Cooper-Currier announced the installation of the 2017-18 slate of officers for OCO’s Board of Directors at the agency’s annual meeting held April 26 at Springside at Seneca Hill.

The Michael A. Maroun Elementary School gymnasium was abuzz with excitement as nearly 65 students showcased their experiments at the annual science fair. Students from kindergarten through fourth grades created projects pertaining to chemistry, biology, earth science and physics.

St. Francis Commons Assisted Living Residence in Oswego will host a workshop that is open to the public entitled, “Entering Their World-Living with Dementia the Easy Way” on May 18 beginning at 7:30 p.m. The workshop is for family members, loved ones, or caregivers who are on the journey of a Dementia diagnosis of a loved one.

Climate change was in focus during the annual Earth Science Honors Research Symposium held May 4 at John C. Birdlebough High School. Susan Sharp’s sophomore honors students presented in-depth research projects to an audience of family and friends.
