Photographer Irving Schild, a wartime resident of the Fort Ontario Emergency Refugee Shelter, will speak as part of SUNY Oswego’s Jewish American Heritage appreciation evening starting at 5 p.m. in the Marano Campus Center food and activity court on April 24 — the day widely observed as Yom HaShoah, or Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Mary Beth and Rob Hill were guests at a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting and presented a program about Blessings In A Backpack. Mary Beth and a group of other women started this program four years ago to feed school age children of low/no income families. Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Fulton is the overseer.
Oswego County Opportunities’ S.O.S. Bowl-A-Fun will be held April 29 at Lakeview Lanes in Fulton beginning at noon. The theme for the OCO Bowl of Fun sends an important message to the community: S.O.S., which stands for Save Our Shelter!
Assemblyman Will Barclay will host a round table discussion with the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce on April 19 from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at the Blue Moon Grill, 122 Cayuga St. in Fulton. The discussion is part of the chamber’s “Meet the Officials” roundtable series.
The first meeting of the season was held on March 25. We had about twenty members and society officials present to review the winter’s progress in reports, as well as to look to the year ahead. President Shawn Doyle went over the proposed 2017 capital projects proposed which were approved pending receipt of grants and private funding. The current project under way to restore the main hall with work to the electrical, the east wall and the complete replacement of the drop ceiling was explained.
