Fitzhugh Park School’s ‘Crafting for the Cure’ at Oswego Farmers’ Market Thursday

A group of Fitzhugh Park Elementary School students simply wanted to use arts and crafts to help to others. Last year, sixth graders Alyssa Searor and Maddy Graham came up with the idea of doing something you enjoy, like making crafts and then finding a way to help others benefit from these efforts. With the guidance of their teacher, Christine Haessig, a group “Crafting for the Cure” was formed and a goal was made.

Sandy Creek Senior 20% projects Wrap Up

Inspired by Google Corporation’s initiative to inspire creativity where employees are given 20% of their workweek over to inspiration, the Sandy Creek 12th grade English department decided to provide a similar opportunity for its students. The 20-time project allows students 20% of their class time to work on and explore one topic of their choice.

Tall Ships Visit to Oswego is Canceled

The H. Lee White Maritime Museum has announced that the Columbus Foundation replica tall ships Nina and Pinta visit to Oswego has been cancelled. “Unfortunately, the ships will not be able to visit the historic port of Oswego this June due to construction work under way on the Oswego breakwall and the required staging on the west pier,” said Mercedes Niess, the museum’s executive director.
