Operation Oswego County, Oswego County’s designated economic development organization, was recently awarded “certificate of excellence” for its newly launched website by the New York State Economic Development Councils at its 2015 marketing and promotional materials award competition.
Nine local Girl Scouts will be recognized for earning the Girl Scout Gold Award during a Young Women of Distinction ceremony on May 30 at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva. The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest achievement girls can earn in Girl Scouting.
For Marylou Brower it has been a labor of love, years in the making. Brower, with some help from fellow quilter Shirley King, recently completed a handmade quilt that she has worked on over the course of the last few years, and has generously donated her work of art to the St. Francis Commons Resident Council.
Vocal and instrumental music filled the Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Junior/Senior High School auditorium during a recent concert. Members of the junior high band and chorus performed seven songs for an audience of friends, family and school personnel.
The Fulton Public Library is relaunching its teen summer program. The new program, The Cool Book Society, is the follow up to last summer’s Teen Advisory Council. The group continues its mission to make the library more inviting to teens through weekly programming and a book club.

The Oswego Middle School Top 50 Dinner was held at the Oswego Elks Club recently, a celebration of academic success for seventh and eighth grade students. Parents, families, friends, teachers, administrators and board of education members were on hand to recognize these students’ efforts in the classroom.
James Szuba of Constantia received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Marist College the weekend of May 23.
