Cappadonia completes basic training

For several years the Youth Group at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church has attended Reach Work Camp during the summer. Reach, a nationwide youth mission, is now in its 22nd year and is designed to provide teens with an opportunity to help the elderly, handicapped and needy families who need repairs done on their homes.
Child Passenger Safety technicians were on hand at FX Caprara in Pulaski during its grand re-opening celebration. Nationally certified in car seat installation, the team was able to answer questions from customers, check recalls on car seats, and give out materials from the Tobacco Free Network of CNY.
Oswego Lions Club will hold its ninth annual “Cow Chip Bingo” fundraiser on September 13 at Lighthouse Lanes in Oswego. Also, the classic car show will be from noon to 3 p.m. the day of the event. Prizes will be given out for the Best Paint Job, Best Modified Truck, Best Modified Car, Best Stock Car and Best Stock Truck.
The Oswego County Legislature’s Public Safety Committee presented Brian Kelly with a certificate of appreciation for his 15 years of service. Kelly is a corrections officer with the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office.
Spec. Adam Radziseski, of Central Square, serving with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 27th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, graduated from the four-week New York Army National Guard course to become a Military Police officer on August 15.
The Oswego Public Library’s Learning Center will offer a four-part Introduction to Computers workshop on September 8, 15, 22 and 29. In addition to the introductory workshops, the Library Learning Center will feature Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Couponing with the Computer, Selling on Ebay, Computer Tune Up, and iPad Basics.
At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting, Rotarian Lennie LaBoda talked about her involvement in the Women for Women International program. It works with women survivors of war in conflict and post-conflict areas around the world. The program encompasses a year-long curriculum concentrated on teaching women their economic, social and civic rights.
The Great Shipwrecks of NY’s ‘Great’ Lakes Signature Exhibit at the 2014 Great New York State Fair will have components in the permanent reflecting pool at the 375-acre Syracuse fairgrounds. The ‘cement pond’ is part of the State Park, operated by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation at the Fair.
Suzette Kimball, acting director of the U.S. Geological Survey celebrated the ceremonial christening of the research vessel Kaho in Oswego recently. The new state-of-the art vessel is part of the Great Lakes Science Center’s research fleet and is based at the Oswego biological field station.
