Artists of all types of music interested in appearing at Harborfest 2014 can obtain information and a Performer Application by logging onto the Harborfest website www.oswegoharborfest.com or at the Harborfest office, 41 Lake St., Oswego, weekdays during the hours of 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Rotarian LaVerne Deland introduced Dale Currier at a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting. Currier, director of Emergency Management for Oswego County, gave a very detailed talk about household preparedness in case of an emergency.
Two of the Oswego Minor Hockey Mite teams collected kid friendly food for the Salvation Army. The Salvation Army helps feed school aged children during the holiday break who will not receive breakfast and lunch offered by the school district.
Residents of Pulaski and the American Red Cross are joining together for a “Communities That Care” blood drive on December 24, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the American Legion at 3350 Maple Ave., Pulaski. A “Communities That Care” blood drive is a Red Cross initiative to engage local citizens and boost regional blood supplies by enlisting community support.
On Christmas Eve, First United Church, 33 S. Third St., will host ‘A Festival of Lessons, Carols and Candlelight.” The service will feature the reading of familiar Christmas scripture, the singing of traditional Christmas carols, the music ministry of the Chancel Choir and the United Voices Quartet and the lighting of candles at the close of the service.
More than 2,000 children in Oswego County will receive donated Christmas gifts this year, thanks to the Oswego County Children’s Fund Inc. and many volunteers and local organizations.
Spirits will be lifted at Golisano Children’s Hospital over Christmas due to the generosity of G. Ray Bodley students, who collected presents for the patients. The idea, Kids Helping Kids, was inspired by ninth grade student Daniel Hotaling.
Students and families at Granby Elementary School recently attended their annual Make It and Take It Craft Night. The evening of festiveness and creativity was sponsored by the Parent Teacher Group.
With the holiday season in full swing, members of the Leadership Program in the Phoenix Central School District are doing their part to make spirits bright. The program, spearheaded by community member and volunteer service coordinator Cathy Lee, sponsors several initiatives throughout the year to aid local residents in need and help beautify the village.
Excelling on the field of play and in the classroom, Phoenix Central School District athletes earned recognition for their achievements at the end of the fall sports season.
