Several programs of Catholic Charities of Oswego County have joined to provide area youth and their families with some holiday fun, as they host Catholic Charities’ annual Family Christmas Party on Saturday from 12:30 to 3:03 p.m.
Lanigan Elementary School recently held a PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) Reward Day for students.
With a focus on student achievement, Fulton City School District teachers and support staff recently met in a collaborative effort to discuss the factors that contribute to students meeting graduation requirements, the graduation rate and develop strategies to bolster that figure. The fall staff development day provided an opportunity for school personnel to examine some of the root causes as to why some students didn’t finish high school in four years.
Although the Common Core curriculum modules were only implemented at the beginning of the school year, teachers and students in the Fulton City School District have already begun to see the positive results associated with the new initiative.
The sounds of the holiday season will once again be heard at 7 p.m. Dec. 15 at the annual Fulton Community Band Christmas Concert in the G. Ray Bodley High School auditorium, said Steve Chirello, president of the Fulton Music Association.
The Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Dollars For Scholars organization will be holding a fundraiser at the Cicero Five Below store on December 13, 14 and 15. Stock up on stocking stuffers, buy games, stationary, electronic accessories, sporting goods, graphic tees, or find some sensational seasonal items for $5 or less and 10% of the total dollars spent will be donated to APW Dollars for Scholars.
Kathy Flaherty, the Assistant Director of Financial Aid at SUNY Oswego will present information about the types and sources of financial aid available to undergraduate students and familiarize attendees with how to complete the FAFSA and TAP forms.
This is the time of year when the Oswego City School District students display their musical talent. All of the concerts are open for the entire community to attend and enjoy an evening of seasonal music. Numerous concerts are scheduled in the upcoming weeks.
G.Ray Bodley recently held a VIP Breakfast – “Very Impressive Person” VIP students earn the status by having an attendance rate of at least 95 percent, a grade point average over 70, and no major referrals.
