At CNY Arts Center’s Arty Day Camp, July 15-19, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for ages 5 to 15, kids can choose from art, writing, dance or theatre, enjoy lunch and group art projects in the afternoons. Scholarships are available.
When it comes to hosting the largest golf tournament in Oswego County, the United Way realizes that it would not happen without the many volunteers who donate their time and talents to make it possible. More than 40 volunteers will be hand at the Oswego Country Club when the United Way of Greater Oswego County’s 18th Annual Golf Classic tees off on July 15.
What was planned as a 3-day weekend outreach event turned out to be an 8-day celebration of the work of God in the greater Fulton area. Hope Fest 2013 was held at the Fulton War Memorial as scheduled on June 7, 8 and 9. “But it did not stop there,” said John Palm, evangelist and leader of this outreach, which was presented by Christian churches throughout Oswego County and beyond.
To celebrate summer weather, the Discovery Day Care preschool class had a Bike Day. The children wee able to bring in their bikes and helmets and ride around the property.
The children learned about helmet safety and had an opportunity to ride each other’s bikes.
Continuing its tradition of Thursday evening art demonstrations, Lakeside Artisans, 191 W. First St. in Oswego, is presenting a varied lineup for the month of July. On July 11, Michele Southgate will demonstrate the Indonesian technique of fabric design called Batik. Southgate will use the technique to design a silk scarf.
Alexander Milliken of Pennellville graduated in May 2013 from Hofstra University with a BE in Engineering Science.
The OCO Health Education program, Comprehensive Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention is recruiting youth to become Peer Educators in this initiative. CAPP works to promote the reduction of risky sexual behaviors in Oswego County adolescents.
The annual Oswego Town Ice Cream Social, which is sponsored by the Oswego Town Historical Society, will be held on July 10 beginning at 6:30 p.m. The Shortslef Brothers, a Country/Bluegrass Band, will offer the entertainment. Attendees are urged to bring their own lawn chairs to enjoy an excellent evening with neighbors and friends.
The CYO Summer Drop-in Recreation Program at Catholic Charities of Oswego County will begin July 8 and will continue through August 23. The Summer Drop-in Recreation Program is offered free of charge to children in grades 2 through 8 in Oswego County and is held Monday through Friday, 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The bazaar features plenty of food, fun and games for the entire family including: a cake booth, plant booth, Kiddie Land, a 50 / 50 drawing, St. Mary’s famous chicken barbecue, live entertainment nightly, and a chance to win $5,000 with St. Mary’s Annual Drawing. In addition, St. Mary’s Bazaar will host live performances from of the area’s most popular entertainers.
