The Oswego County Humane Society, (OCHS) annual fund raisers held at Fallbrook Recreation Center were a huge success this year. On a warm fall day over 60 participants in the Strut your Mutt event enjoyed the 5K run, 1 mile family walk, lunch, music and pooches.
Marion Blumenthal Lazan witnessed and lived nightmarish moments that many in today’s world thankfully only read about or watch on television. She is a Holocaust survivor and shared with students at Oswego County BOCES (OCB) her own personal story and a powerful message of hope, courage and compassion.
Over its long history, the land comprising modern-day Pakistan has produced varied musical traditions and styles. SUNY Oswego’s Artswego will present Central New Yorkers a sample at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Ralph M. Faust Auditorium at Oswego High School.
The Oswego County Tourism Advisory Council recently presented its 2011 Tourism Ambassador Hall of Fame Awards to the Bridgehouse Brats of Phoenix, Richard and Naneen Drosse of Minetto, and Fred Kuepper of Mexico. The annual awards recognize extraordinary support and commitment of time and energy to the Oswego County tourism industry.
Turkey aplenty will be served at the Harvest Dinner at the Minetto United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 15, beginning at 4:00. Customers who prefer to eat at home can go inside for carry-out service or use the drive-thru take-out line.
“Anybody’s Guess” is donating their talent for the evening. The band is based in Hannibal and has long standing ties to the Hannibal Central School Music Program.
Lowell Newvine will show his extensive collection of Hannibal pictures and newspaper clippings. He will have Hannibal genealogy records available. The upstairs room will be open for those who wish to see artifacts owned by the Society.
