The annual Mexico Academic Award Ceremony recognized each class comprised of students who have earned honors distinction, outstanding student status, athletic accolades and special area recognition.
Thirty earth science honors students from John C. Birdlebough High School spent months researching various topics and developing hypotheses related to their area of study.
The Oswego County Conservative Committee met recently to endorse candidates for the 2018 elections. “We thank all who have chosen to run and represent the taxpayers of Oswego County,” the chairman said.
A project-based learning effort at Hannibal High School took a page out of ABC TV’s playbook with its own rendition of “Shark Tank.”
“Excellus BlueCross BlueShield is proud of its employees, who not only give their all on the job to meet the needs of our members, health care providers and clients, but also volunteer to help many different community organizations,” said Jim Reed, regional president, Excellus BlueCross BlueShield.
The occasion marked the 91st anniversary of the club’s founding and continued the club’s collaboration with the Richard S. Shineman Foundation, Pathfinder Bank, and the Tarandi Foundation whose financial contributions help support the awards.
Evans received the the Harwant K. Dosanjh Scholarship for Chemistry or Calculus and received the Academic Program Award from the Environmental Biology Program.
Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Aspiring playwrights still have a chance to enter their work in the annual Don McCann Memorial Playwriting Contest.
The contest is sponsored by the Oswego Players every year in memory of the late Don McCann, who was a long-time newspaper reporter as well as wonderful director, actor and administrator with the Oswego Players.
“This award was established to recognize individuals from our insurance carriers for their outstanding performance and relationship with our agency,” Eryl Christiansen, ESA president, said. “Tom and ESA have had an outstanding working relationship and we are delighted to present him with this award.“
