The Oswego County Legislature’s Human Services Committee presented a proclamation designating the month of May as Foster Parent Appreciation Month. Devoted foster parents make great efforts to change the life of a child or youth in foster care by providing them with much needed security and stability.
With a focus on promoting colon cancer awareness “Walk the Bottom Line” is a family event filled with activities and information on the importance of a healthy lifestyle. The event will be held June 3 from noon to 3 p.m. at Bullhead Point in Fulton.
Oswego Health has installed the latest high-definition equipment in its operating rooms, providing its surgeons a big screen view when performing surgeries. Oswego Hospital’s four major operating rooms are among the first in Central New York to have installed this new equipment.
The United Baptist Church of Scriba is proud to present another night of comedy on May 25 at 7 p.m. We will be featuring various comedians from the “Apostles of Comedy” and “Thou Shalt Laugh!” tours on the big screen. Join us for a night of laughs and good fellowship.
Oswego’s Blessings in a Backpack program will hold a drive-through chicken barbecue beginning at 11 a.m. June 2, at Church of the Resurrection, 120 W. Fifth St. All proceeds will go to feed hungry bellies among Oswego’s schoolchildren during weekends and school breaks in the coming academic year.
Calling all volunteers! Join AmeriCorps workers at Independence Trail in Scriba for some spring cleaning. Independence Trail is a 70-acre property the rests alongside Lake Ontario shoreline. It is also one of the only hiking trails in the county that is ADA accessible.
An information night was recently held in the cafeteria at G. Ray Bodley High School where parents, guardians and the future freshmen listened to high school counselors and administrators provide insight on life at GRB.
Madison Lang was the designated student at GRB who received the only $1,500 award, while $500 awards were given to Jacob Geitner, Bradley Martin, Mason Rowlee, Keegan Wallace, Addison Billion, Julia Guarrera and Caitlyn McAfee.
The H. Lee White Maritime Museum is proud to present Oswego’s third annual “Waterfront Open House” to be held along the west pier in the Historic Maritime District on May 19 from 1-4 p.m. The main purpose of this event is to help promote fun activities on Oswego’s waterfront and kick off National Safe Boating Week.
