Fulton Schools Offer Free Breakfast, Lunch for All Students

Fulton City School District has been approved for participation in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) offering free breakfast and lunch daily to all students districtwide. Beginning in the 2018-2019 school year, students in grades pre-kindergarten through twelfth enrolled at any of the six district schools as well as students at the 4th Street CiTi BOCES location will be offered a nutritional breakfast and lunch each day, free of any cost to district students or families. There is no application or fee required with no action needed from district families. “They just show up, and students have free meals,” FCSD Superintendent Brian Pulvino said.

Fulton Man Arrested On Arson Charges Following A Two-Year Investigation

On June 15, 2016, at 8:14 pm, State Police responded to 903 Allen Road in the town of Clay for a report of a residential fire. On Monday, July 30, 2018, upon the conclusion of a two-year investigation, State Police in Lysander arrested the owner of that residence, 38-year-old, Scott A. Rockwell, from 868 Rowlee Road, Fulton.

Fourth Annual ‘Play for Bray’ Tournament: August 4 and 5

Brayden Munger of Minetto, a seven-year-old cancer patient, is nearing the end of his treatment. However, his generosity is infinite as he plans on using an annual fundraiser to purchase items for Golisano Children’s hospital and Upstate Children’s Cancer Center’s wish lists. “Brayden’s end to treatments are right around the corner, but his desire to help other children and families in his position is so very strong,” his aunt, Crystal Bracy said. The fourth annual “Play for Bray Volleyball Tournament” located at Cheap Seats Sports Bar and Grille, 6 Hillside Ave. in Oswego, will use 100 percent of all proceeds to purchase wish list items for children and families undering hospital stays for cancer treatment.

Fulton Footpaths Applies for Construction Grant

Fulton Footpaths, the volunteer committee working to create a system of multi-use heritage trails throughout the city of Fulton, has applied for a state-funded grant for the first phase of trail construction. Submitted to the NYS Department of State, the application for funding is to cover costs derived from a feasibility study to construct two out of eight total trails. The grant would fund up to $900,000 for construction work- a monetary value figured from a feasibility study completed by Syracuse-based Environmental Design and Research (EDR) that was secured through prior grant funding. The first construction grant will target the Pathfinder Canal Towpath Trail (four miles) and the Canalview Bridge Walk Trail (1.8 miles.)

CNY Arts Center Moves to ‘Forever Home’ in Downtown Fulton

CNY Arts Center, a non-profit multi-arts center in Fulton, has begun the move into a permanent location in the city’s downtown. Now located at 121-125 Cayuga St., CNY Arts Center board members have big plans for the future. “The arts in and of themselves are so important, but when you pair it with an actual physical location, it has the ability to really cement things. We start here and grow out, that’s how I look at it. We finally have a permanent home now and we can start to really grow,” said CNY Arts Center Executive Director Nancy Fox.
