Demolition remains ongoing at the former Nestles property in Fulton, specifically targeting the more than two-acre corner lot promised to global supermarket chain, ALDI. Fulton Mayor Ronald Woodward Sr. said that Aldi is still interested in the site and demolition remains ongoing through the winter to the best that weather conditions allow. An Aldi representative recently confirmed this information to Oswego County Today.
Many people have been asking how the Fulton Block Challenge Grants will work and what they can do to help. Since it is just over a month before the eligible blocks will be announced (March 1, 2017), there are things you can be doing today to get ready.
TFN is home to Reality Check, a New York State youth led movement that targets tobacco companies and their marketing strategies that appeal to youth. The local Reality Check program is preparing to send four students from the catchment areas to Albany, NY for Legislative Day on February 7. One student from G. Ray Bodley High School in Fulton, one student from Paul V. Moore High School in Central Square and two students from ITC in Syracuse will travel to the state capitol to meet with state legislators along with 25 other contracts from Reality Check programs throughout the state.
The deadline to submit an intent to propose for the countywide grant opportunity under the Municipal Consolidation and Efficiency Competition has come and gone without a submission from Oswego County.
The Fulton Common Council has announced a public hearing in regards to a proposed zone change on a one block stretch on the city’s west side. The city block surrounding West Broadway, West Third Street, Beech Street and West Fourth Street is currently zoned C-2, Commercial. The proposed zone change intends to make all properties on the block C-2A, Commercial allowing partial residential uses of the properties.
The city of Fulton was awarded $350,000 to assist with infrastructure costs at the Nestle’s site on 481 and the village of Phoenix was awarded $500,000 to rehabilitate two dilapidated properties and turn them into commercial and retail use.

A grassroots organization in Fulton is aiming to revitalize neighborhoods throughout the city while building pride and community camaraderie. Based on the Healthy Neighbors Initiative, the Fulton Block Builders is a neighborhood revitalization program with modern conveniences that allow homeowners to target exterior home improvements for multiple houses on a one block stretch.
