Proposed Budget Shows No Tax Increase in Fulton, Public Hearing Scheduled

At its current state, the proposed 2017 Fulton city budget shows no increase in the tax rate, standing at $20.51 per $1,000 of assessed value. A pubic hearing on the proposed 2017 budget has been scheduled to take place on Dec 6 following the public comment portion of the regular common council meeting beginning at 7 p.m. in the Municipal Building, located at 141 S. First St.

To Swim or Not To Swim: The Question Surrounding Lake Neatahwanta

Despite the quickly approaching winter weather, a large focus looms in Fulton on Lake Neatahwanta, the city’s “little lake by the big lake.” The focus redeveloped after a “polar plunge” event initially arranged by a volunteer organization to encourage people to plunge into Lake Neatahwanta has been canceled due to concerns that arose on the current safety status of the lake.

CSEA, City Officials Reach Tentative Agreement

The Fulton Common Council unanimously passed a tentative agreement with one of three labor unions that represent the city of Fulton. The agreement with the CSEA allowed no increase in wages for the year 2015, a one time $500 increase for each employee in the year 2016, and a two-percent increase for each employee in the year 2017.
