Fulton Man Accused of Selling Drugs

On July 21, the Fulton Police Department executed a search warrant at 110 W. First St., N., apartment #1 in the city of Fulton. The search warrant was the result of a joint investigation with the Oswego County Drug Task Force into the alleged sales and distribution of heroin and marihuana by Gerald J. Whitney IV from that residence.

Fulton Man Facing Felony Drug Charges

On July 21, investigators with the Oswego County Drug Task Force in conjunction with the NYS Police Special Operations Response Team and the Fulton Police Department executed a narcotics related search warrant at 61 N. Sixth St. in Fulton. As a result, a total of 73 individual bags of heroin and approximately 6 grams of crack cocaine were seized.

Former Nestles Demolition Update: Photos

As the July 1 demolition deadline set forth in a contract with Aldi has come and gone, city officials remain adamant that the agreement with Aldi will forge on. Interest in a corner lot on South Fourth and Fay streets has come from international supermarket chain, Aldi who then signed a contract with the city of Fulton in hopes to build and open a store at this location by Christmas of this year. Despite the delays, executive director of the community development agency, Joe Fiumara has confirmed that Aldi is still interested and pursuing their contract with the city.

City Officials Visit Reach Youth Repairing Homes in Fulton

City officials traveled through the city of Fulton to meet Reach program youth at work sites as they rehabilitated more than 50 homes in the area. Mayor Ronald Woodward Sr. and first, second and third ward councilmen Thomas Kenyon, David Ritchie, and Donald Patrick Jr. respectively, visited many of the work sites to meet the Reach youth and staff, and speak with participating homeowners. “This is really great,” said Mayor Woodward. “The kids are working really hard and the homeowners are very appreciative.”

Nearly 200 years after his death, a Revolutionary War soldier was honored with a gravesite marker and wreaths in a small rural cemetery during Independence Day weekend July 3. The ceremony honoring veteran Elias Cady was organized by the Syracuse Chapter of the National Society of Sons of the American Revolution.

Fulton School Officials Update on Focus, LAP Plans

The Fulton City School District has been named a focus district for the 2016-2017 school year, with specific focus on G. Ray Bodley High School as a focus school, as well as two elementary schools in LAP status, Fairgrieve and Volney. Each of these distinctions require the schools to follow state protocol and come up with appropriate plans to combat the problem areas in the effected subgroups. Executive director of instruction and assessment, Elizabeth Conners updated the board of education on these plans at the first summer (July 12) board meeting. “This doesn’t mean we’re bad,” said Conners. “It means we have some structures and systems that we need to come back to and tighten up to ensure all students in the Fulton City School District are learning.”

City Officials Welcome Reach Program Staff to Fulton

City officials including Mayor Ronald Woodward Sr. and his executive assistant, Kathy Trowbridge, the common council and code enforcement officers recently welcomed the staff of the Reach program as they gear up for their stay in the city of Fulton. Reach Mission Trips is preparing for two separate week-long youth camps in which campers will aim to rehabilitate dozens of homes in the Fulton area that belong to disadvantaged home owners.
