Parent University Showcases Community Involvement in Fulton School District

Despite a slow start in the early Saturday (April 16) morning hours, turnout picked up throughout the day for the second ever Parent University hosted by Fulton City School District and Fulton Community School. The doors opened at 9 a.m. at Fulton Junior High School to welcome parents, families and students from the Fulton community to the informational Parent University aimed at providing numerous resources to benefit the overall educational experience of all students. The free event provided ten seminars involving many different members of the Fulton City School District including the Board of Education and touched on subjects of many varieties including parenting strategies, academic assistance and educational requirements. In its second year, Parent University was proud to introduce Chick Moorman, a renowned educator as the keynote speaker to present on his program, The 5 Commitments: Parenting with a Purpose.

Friends of Fulton Parks Receives Matching Grant For Teen Space at Lake Neahtahwanta

Under Governor Cuomo’s Regional Economic Development Council initiative, the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation has awarded a matching grant of $292,409 to Friends of Fulton Parks to develop a teen-focused play space at Recreation Park, adjacent to Lake Neahtahwanta.

Sixth Graders Grill Assemblyman Barclay at Mock Press Conference

No questions were off limits as the sixth grade students of Volney Elementary dressed the part to hold a mock press conference for NYS Assemblyman Will Barclay. Barclay, representing the 120th district in the New York State Assembly stood before the sea of young press and tackled the questions they presented on a variety of different subjects.

Two Charged With Drug Possession Following Traffic Stop In Lysander

On Wednesday, State Police stopped a vehicle traveling north on State Route 690 in the town of Lysander for a traffic violation. Troopers found that the driver, Andrew D. Wooding, 32, of Central Square, and the passenger, Samantha P. Vescio, 28, of Fulton were both allegedly in possession of heroin and hypodermic needles.
