The FCSD Board of Education unanimously approved the Smart Schools Bond Act preliminary investment plan for the second phase at Tuesday’s (Feb. 9) regular board meeting. The Smart Schools Bond Act was passed by voters in a referendum in November of 2014 and allotted $2 billion dollars to NYS school districts to heighten learning through technological and infrastructure enhancements. The Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce, together with the Office of Fulton Mayor Ron Woodward, today (Feb. 8) announced that it will host monthly economic development meetings with the Fulton business community. Mayor Woodward and members of the Common Council will join the group for the first meeting in Fulton on February 18.
A Huntley Hearing held Feb 2 has provided testimony in the case of a Fulton doctor accused of raping a patient in March of 2015. Dilip K. Roy, 51, was arrested on May 5, 2015 and eventually charged with two counts of rape in the third degree, a class E felony, after a patient reported in April that she was subjected to unwanted sexual intercourse during an office visit in March. The 25-year-old patient testified at the hearing in front of Oswego County Court Judge, Donald Todd as well as prosecutor Allison O’Neill and defense attorney Jack Conners.

The Oswego Fire Department was dispatched at 10:45 a.m. today (Feb. 5) to a reported fire on the roof of a commercial building, Aldi Supermarket, 290 State Route 104. The fire was discovered by a solar panel inspector who ironically was there doing a routine inspection of the system. The solar power system on the roof of the structure will remain offline until proper repairs are made and it can be inspected.
State Police in Hastings are investigating a larceny of a 1998 Jeep Wrangler from the Auto Plus business parking lot located at 11 Enterprise Avenue in the town of Hastings. The vehicle was reportedly taken on Saturday January 16, at approximately 10:30 p.m.
