Out of State Motorist Arrested For DWI

On June 9 troopers out of SP Fulton observed a vehicle with South Carolina registration stopped along the shoulder of State Route 3 in Volney. Troopers stopped to check on the welfare of the driver, 35-year-old Sean S. Smith of West Columbia, SC. During the interview, troopers observed that Mr. Smith appeared to be intoxicated.

CNY Arts Center celebrates grand opening of ARTs in the HeART Gallery

CNY Arts Center has been looking to expand for a while, and with the addition of CNY Arts Gallery, located at 47 First St., that goal is being realized. The original location of CNY Arts is at the State Street Church in Fulton and is a space where classes are held and the staff offices are located. “We didn’t have enough space for our artists to display work,” explained Bonnie McClellen, the gallery coordinator.

Holocaust survivor shares message of hope, courage and compassion with Fulton sixth graders

Marion Blumenthal Lazan holds the Star of David that she was required to wear as a child. The Holocaust survivor and author spoke to sixth students in the Fulton City School District about the power of hope, courage and compassion and spent some time after her presentation autographing copies of her memoir Four Perfect Pebbles: A Holocaust Story. Lazan began publicly speaking about her Holocaust story more than 30 years ago and in addition to a memoir, her story was the basis for the 2003 documentary titled Marion’s Triumph: Surviving History’s Nightmare.Marion Blumenthal Lazan, a Holocaust survivor and author of the book “Four Perfect Pebbles,” was a recent visitor in the Fulton City School District where she shared her personal story of hope, courage and compassion with sixth grade students in the district. “By listening,” she said, “I hope you prevent our past from becoming your future.”
