Motor Vehicle Crash in Granby Claims Life

UPDATE:  The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Nicholas Kellogg of Kellogg Road in Hannibal.

His pickup truck was westbound on County Route 3, west of Hanley Road, when it went off the road, into a ditch and struck a utility pole support wire, an earthen embankment and several small trees while overturning, deputies said.

Roll Over on State Route 3 in Fulton

Fulton firefighters work to free a victim of this afternoon's accident on Route 3. (Photo by: Rick Grosvent)A crash reportedly occurred on State Route 3 in front of CT Farm and Tractor in Fulton at approximately 2:30 p.m.today, according to contributing photographer Rick Grosvent. One victim had to be cut out of the overturned vehicle. She was transported to Upstate by Menter ambulance with what appears to be non-life threatening injuries.

Fulton Police Department to Participate in Buckle Up New York

For two weeks, starting on May 20, the Fulton Police Department, along with law enforcement agencies across the state, will participate in the 2013 Buckle Up New York, Click it or Ticket May mobilization. The goal of this program is to increase seatbelt use and as a result reduce the number of personal injury and fatal crashes.

Cayuga CC Board of Trustees works to balance College budget through furlough days and wage concessions for employees

During a special meeting Monday night, the Cayuga Community College Board of Trustees voted 6 to 3 to accept agreements with the four college bargaining units. This action prevents employee layoffs and will balance this year’s operating budget. The college needed to reduce expenditures of its $32.36 million operating budget by approximately $1.5 million before the end of the fiscal year on August 31, 2013, to help make up for an unexpected 5 percent enrollment decrease.

Great Regional and National Talent Coming to the 32nd Annual Memorial Day Salute

The 32nd annual Memorial Day Salute, May 24 and 25, held at the Fulton Community Center on West Broadway, will feature the Magical Mystery Tour. This popular Central New York Beatle Tribute Band will perform on May 24 at 7 p.m. and will be sponsored by National Grid. On May 25 Rob Garrett “King of Diamonds,” a Neil Diamond Tribute Band, sponsored by Fulton Savings Bank, will take the stage at 8 p.m.

Fulton Laxmen Alumni help win National Championship

Ross Maxam, left, and Brett Williams hold the tropheyFormer Raider Laxmen Ross Maxam and Brett Williams traveled to Long Island with their team, Onondaga Community College, May 11 and 12. They brought home the NJCAA National Championship. This was the Lazers fifth straight championship title and its 70th straight win, breaking the all-time record by any level college lacrosse team of most consecutive wins.
