Even a little rain couldn’t keep members of SAF (Services to Aid Families) and the community from the 12th Victim’s Rights Tree Planting Ceremony recently. Every year, the ceremony takes place in a different community in Oswego County. This year’s tree was planted outside the Hannibal Town Hall.

The Granby Lake Neatahwanta Reclamation Committee will host a chicken barbeque fundraiser Saturday at the Granby Community Center on County Route 8 in Fulton.
The event will begin at noon and wrap up at 3 p.m.
The proposed budget is $65,259,100, and is a 4.6% increase over the current budget. This proposal also includes a 1.5% increase to the local tax levy. “It takes a lot of forethought to make sure the budget is efficient and fair for our students’ education and fair for members of the community,” the superintendent said.
On Saturday, May 4, 11 local paddlers participated in Canal Clean Sweep for the historic Battle Island area of the Oswego River. Very little littler was found along the shoreline. Stopping to view and explore Battle Island, an abandoned and deteriorated campsite was discovered.
Two of the area’s most talented and popular musicians will be featured this year at the 32nd Annual Fulton Memorial Day Salute. On May 24 at 6 p.m., Rick Bush, a Fulton native, will bring his musical talents to the stage. On May 25 at 6 p.m., Vince Markowsky will take the stage.
Visitors can browse through a large selection of furniture, kitchenware and pottery, prints, and vintage outdoor items, and even the building will see a new use when the Parish Antiques and Country Market opens to the public on May 18. Owner Cherie Stooks has spent the past several months filling the former St. Anne’s Catholic Church with a large selection of antiques ranging from the Victorian period to the 1960s and 1970s.
