Cayuga Community College will ask for bids to see who can come up with the next home for its rapidly growing Fulton campus. The school’s plans to move to the former P&C supermarket were foiled, they believe, by their current landlord. Now, they’ll take offers from anyone who believes they have the land and building space necessary to house a school that one official says is “bustin’ at the seams.”
A minor earthquake rumbled through the area Wednesday afternoon.
Those who felt the shaking said it was mild.
Agencies across the state reported feeling the shake.
Federal earthquake monitors so far report only one earthquake in the region, centered about half an hour north of Ottawa.
The quake has an initial magnitude of 5.2, making it a moderately strong earthquake, and likely to be felt so far from Ottawa.
An earthquake of magnitude 5 on the Richter scale can cause building damage in the immediate area of the quake. About 800 such earthquakes happen around the world each year.

Brad Bennett was working on his boat, tied up along the Oswego River between Fulton’s upper and lower locks, when he saw a car come down the access road. The car was moving fast. He saw the driver, who was talking on his cell phone. The man “drove straight into the water,” Bennett said.
UPDATE: Rescue crews responded to the scene of a car in the Oswego River in Fulton. We’re told it happened on the east side of the river and that a person inside the vehicle got out safely. The driver has been identified as a young man from Oswego.
A snag has developed in Oswego Health’s plans to buy and renovate the closed Lee Memorial Hospital to house more medical services.
