Fulton Public Library’s Elevator Project Begins
Ground was broken Friday, September 25, on the river side of the 1905 Carnegie structure, to build a four-story elevator tower on the rear of the building. “The project will be completed in two sections,†Library Director Penny Kerfien said. “The first part of the project will be to construct the tower, on the river side of the building, from ground level to the roof.â€Â

Gov. Sets Special Election Date As Candidates For Congress Keep Moving
Gov. David Paterson Tuesday signed a proclamation that marks Nov. 3 as the date for the special election to replace McHugh, who was named Secretary of the Army by President Obama. The date is the same as the regular November elections, a move that will save the 11 counties of the 23rd Congressional District the expense of running a full election for just one office.

Hannibal’s Next Playground Will Be Different From The Current One
There will eventually be a new school and community playground at Hannibal’s Fairley Elementary School. While the final design of the playground isn’t certain yet, one thing is: “What we will have is very different from what we have now,” said Fairley principal Roseann Schoonmaker, a member of the committee pulling the new playground together.
