Revote On Capital Project Comes With Board Guarantee: No Local Expense

The Hannibal Board of Education has announced its decision to put the district’s proposed capital project up for a second vote. The vote will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Jan. 21, 2009 and comes with a guarantee from the Hannibal Board of Education that the project will be delivered with no local expense.

Higgins Case Moved To December

The Fulton code enforcement officer who was arrested Nov. 3 for allegedly skimming money she received for rental permits and contractor licenses will return to court next month. Rita Higgins, 57, of West Fourth Street South, Fulton, was scheduled to make an appearance in Fulton City Court Friday. The case has been adjourned to Dec. 12.

Police Arrest Two For Tampering With Food

Fulton police concluded their investigation into a complaint of food tampering at a local restaurant, making two arrests. Philip F. Dunbar, 30, and Jeremy M. Hankey, 25, both of Fulton, were charged with single counts of third-degree criminal tampering for allegedly spitting into food that was served to a police officer at McDonalds in Fulton. Both are due back in Fulton City Court Dec. 4.

Police Charge Mexico Man In Connection With Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash

Members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office have arrested Alexander D. Naugle, 21, of 319 West Stone Road, Mexico, charging him with three misdemeanor counts of first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child, a class-A misdemeanor. Police said the arrest is the result of the ongoing investigation of a traffic fatality that occurred on West Stone Road in the town of New Haven Nov. 11.

Northeast Biofuels Experiencing Production Delays; Addressing Performance

Ethanol production is at a temporary standstill at Northeast Biofuels as the company works out performance-related issues at the plant with its contractor, Lurgi PSI, Inc. The plant has experienced several production outages since the initial startup, according to plant manager Brian Roach. The most recent outage started Thursday.

Logistics Officer With Fulton Ties Receives Bronze Star

After a year’s stay in the southern desert of Afghanistan, Capt. Carl Close, 92nd Logistic Readiness officer, returned home to his wife a combat-experienced Airman. But on Monday afternoon, Oct. 6, Captain Close was recognized in front of family and peers for his outstanding accomplishments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom with a Bronze Star medal, signifying his achievements during deployment.
