Ethanol production is at a temporary standstill at Northeast Biofuels as the company works out performance-related issues at the plant with its contractor, Lurgi PSI, Inc. The plant has experienced several production outages since the initial startup, according to plant manager Brian Roach. The most recent outage started Thursday.
Logistics Officer With Fulton Ties Receives Bronze Star
After a year’s stay in the southern desert of Afghanistan, Capt. Carl Close, 92nd Logistic Readiness officer, returned home to his wife a combat-experienced Airman. But on Monday afternoon, Oct. 6, Captain Close was recognized in front of family and peers for his outstanding accomplishments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom with a Bronze Star medal, signifying his achievements during deployment.
Police Arrest Hit-and-Run Suspect
Goppert Accused of Insurance Fraud
The Fulton woman who was arrested twice earlier this year for allegedly stealing from local businesses has been arrested again, charged this time with insurance fraud. Karen S. Goppert, 38, of 103 Senior Ave., was arrested Friday and charged with third-degree insurance fraud, a class-D felony; first-degree falsifying business records, a class-E felony; and offering a false written statement, a class-A misdemeanor.
Fulton Honors Its Veterans
Coming together on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, the Fulton community gathered Tuesday to pay tribute to the nation’s veterans. Several speakers reflected on the importance of the day during a ceremony at the Fulton Municipal Building.
