SUNY Oswego Physics Professor Receives Grant For Lithium-ion Battery Research

SUNY Oswego physics professor Mohammad Islam has received another grant from the Syracuse Center of Excellence (CoE) to improve the range of lithium-ion batteries, so electric cars can better compete with gas-powered vehicles. The Syracuse CoE – which specializes in research pertaining to water, environment and energy – provided $15,000 to support Islam’s work.

Oswego City Drug Task Force Executed A Search Warrant Resulting In Arrests On East Second Street

On August 24, 2023, at about 10:30 am, the Oswego City Drug Task Force executed a search warrant on a E Second St residence regarding an ongoing narcotics investigation. As a result of the search warrant, investigators located and seized over seven (7) ounces of powder cocaine in bulk, 5 grams of crack cocaine in individual packaging and $3,400 in cash.

Mayor Billy Barlow announced today another free concert will take place in Oswego as the summer season ends, following a recent announcement the Syracuse Highland Pipe Band will perform in Breitbeck Park on August 30. This time, FLAME THE BAND, will perform on Veteran’s Stage on Friday, September 15 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
