The Common Council took steps Monday night to enhance cell phone coverage in the Port City. A trio of public hearings was held Monday night regarding the placement of three Verizon Wireless Telecommunications facilities. State Police ID Two Missing Teens In Lake – Bodies Recovered

UPDATE: The individuals have been identified as 18-year-old Lorenz Greenwood Coinco and 14-year-old, Andrew J. Stevenson both from Watertown, NY.
State Police report two bodies have been recovered. The victims, who police believe were pulled into the water by a large wave, have not been identified.
On Sunday, June 25, at approximately 3:30 p.m., State Police responded to the Robert G. Wehle State Park in Henderson regarding two male subjects in Lake Ontario in distress approximately 30 yards off shore.

Legislature Passes ‘Sparkler Law’

The Oswego County Legislature passed a new law at its June meeting which will allow residents to use sparklers and similar non-explosive devices for their Independence Day celebrations. The law permits “safe and common items,” such as sparklers, to be excluded from the list of dangerous fireworks as defined by the New York State penal code.

Oswego County Family, Including 2 Children, Victims Of Road Rage Incident On I-81

On June 22, 2017 at approximately 2:35 p.m., a trooper patrolling northbound on I-81 in the town of Salina came upon an accident that had just occurred. The trooper discovered a gray Ford pickup that had struck the concrete barrier, and spun, facing south in the northbound lanes near the 7th North Street exit. Five passengers, including a small child and an infant, were just starting to exit the vehicle.

Oswego County Flood Victims Can Pick Up Water Test Kits at Sandy Creek Town Clerk’s Office

Residents of flooded areas who want to have their water tested for bacteria may pick up test kits and drop off water samples at the Sandy Creek Town Clerk’s Office, 1992 Harwood Drive, beginning Monday, June 26. The Oswego County Health Department is working with town officials to make test kits available and to pick up samples of water for lab testing. Samples will be tested for Coliform bacteria and E. coli bacteria.
