UPDATE: The structural integrity of the building is being evaluated at this time by code enforcement. Firefighters cleared the scene around 10 a.m. today.
The Oswego Fire Department battled a difficult structure fire Thursday evening (Jan. 28) in an apartment house at 194 W. Fifth St. A firefighter suffered a minor injury at the fire, and was checked and released. No civilian injuries were reported.
Local author Jim Farfaglia has compiled many of the memories of the Blizzard of 1966 in his new book, “Voices in the Storm – Stories From The Blizzard Of ’66.” Recently, Farfaglia sat down with Oswego County Today and explained how the book came to be.

The New York State Police in Fulton are investigating a burglary to a residence on Lakeview Road in the town of Scriba. The suspect was captured on surveillance and the State Police are attempting to identify him.
Following more than an hour’s worth of discussion Monday night by members of the public as well as city officials, councilors voted unanimously to table a resolution to amend the city charter regarding winter parking restrictions. Therefore, the mayor’s executive order, instituting a winter parking ban (no parking on city streets from 1 to 6 a.m.) remains in place.
The village of Pulaski will be hopping this weekend with live music, a snow sculpture contest, free movies, a chili walk and a wing walk during the fifth annual Salmon River Winter Festival Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 29 to 31.
The Oswego War of 1812 Symposium returns to the Port City April 1-3. Once again, the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center will host the sixth annual event. Fort Ontario State Historic Site Superintendent Paul Lear is the chairman of the Oswego International War of 1812 Symposium Committee and will emcee the event
