The spectacular Grucci Fireworks will fill the sky over the waters of the Oswego Harbor on July 30. Entergy, long-time sponsor of the spectacular Grucci pyrotechnics, has confirmed that it is continuing the Oswego Harborfest tradition for not only one year, but a two-year commitment.

A college student went out on the breakwall for a walk Sunday (Jan. 31) afternoon. Witnesses stated the person fell several times on the ice and was having a difficult time getting back. The person walked back on their own, authorities reported.
New York State Police have arrested Armond H. Aubin, 06/27/83, of 37 Lakeview Road, Oswego, and charged him with Burglary 2nd degree – Class C Felony.
Representatives from Oswego County are headed to the Washington, D.C. area to join more than 2,500 substance abuse prevention specialists and advocates from throughout the country for Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America’s 26th Annual National Leadership Forum, held Feb. 1-4 at the Gaylord National Hotel.
Assemblyman Will Barclay has introduced two bills in his continued effort to support the nuclear power industry and keep the FitzPatrick nuclear power plant operational. One bill would provide a temporary tax credit for the FitzPatrick plant. The other bill, among other things, expands New York State’s Renewable Portfolio Standard to include nuclear power.

The Oswego Fire Department battled a difficult structure fire Thursday evening (Jan. 28) in an apartment house at 194 W. Fifth St. A firefighter suffered a minor injury at the fire, and was checked and released. No civilian injuries were reported.
Local author Jim Farfaglia has compiled many of the memories of the Blizzard of 1966 in his new book, “Voices in the Storm – Stories From The Blizzard Of ’66.” Recently, Farfaglia sat down with Oswego County Today and explained how the book came to be.
