OHS Army All-Americans Recognized By Oswego School Board

Oswego Robotics Team Wins NY VEX Toss Up State Championship, Qualifies for Worlds

Dr. Mark Humphrey (parent/mentor), Jordan Runner, Jeremy Braiman, Michael Beckwith, Jr., Evan James, Adam Humphrey, Lydia Tryon, Daniel Tryon (coach and SUNY Oswego professor), and Jordan Tryon.  Missing in photo:  Justin Montois (coach and SUNY Oswego student).Thirty-six robotics teams from all over New York State competed, by invitation only, on January 25 for the title of State Champion at the Northern NY VEX Toss Up State Championship. Two teams from Oswego dominated the competition during the qualification rounds. Both teams made it to the semi-finals; both teams won special awards. And, one of them won a coveted spot in the next level of competition.

Snow Bands Continue To March Over Oswego Area

The ice forms in some rather strange ways on the shores of Lake Ontario, especially after some wind and waves on Monday afternoon. Photo courtsey of Joe Falcetti.After a snow and blustery Monday, things will improve slightly Tuesday. The area shoveled out from underneath another 7 inches of snow on Monday. The blowing and drifting snow caused whiteout conditions, which delayed or closed many county school districts and cancelled other afternoon and evening events. It will be cold overnight with more lake effect flurries east of Lake Ontario and Tuesday will see a mix of sun and clouds, according to Bill Gregway, local observer for the National Weather Service.

Heidi Allen’s Sister Shares Message Of Hope

Local author and speaker Lisa M. Buske recently traveled to San Antonio, Texas, to speak at The Heidi Search Center’s annual banquet. This wasn’t Buske’s first interaction with the HSC. Their relationship began in April 1994 – when the center sent a search and rescue expert to join the search for Buske’s sister, Heidi M. Allen.

Eastside Oswego Man Facing Felony Rape Charges

handcuffsOn Tuesday, the Oswego City Police Department received a complaint of an alleged sexual assault. An investigation was conducted and on Thursday, Roderick C. Matott, 56, of 112 ½ E. Oneida St., Oswego, was arrested and charged with the following: Rape in the 1st degree- by forcible compulsion- Class B Felony and Rape in the 2nd degree, Actor more than 18 years old and victim under 15 years of age- Class D Felony.

Children’s Museum of Oswego eager to reveal feasibility study results

Picture captured at CMOO’s Winter Wonderland event held over winter break in Oswego at the McCrobie Center.The Children’s Museum of Oswego is taking a giant leap forward as it will hold a presentation to reveal the results of its recently completed feasibility study. It will be on January 29 at 7 p.m. at the American Foundry. The board of trustees commissioned Dr. Robert “Mac” West of Informal Learning Experiences, Inc., to conduct the study. Dr. West’s study will help place CMOO into the dynamic community and includes an assessment of the current state of financial, cultural, and demographic aspects of our area.
