The road closure/detour will go into effect at 7 a.m. on February 10 and as part of the Consent Decree Project, J. J. Lane will be closing West Fifth Street from Ellen Street to Prospect Street, in order to install a new storm sewer on the west side of the street. Traffic detours will be set up at Tallman Street.

Information received thus far indicates that the possible compromise of this information may have been accomplished via an unauthorized external breach (hack). Therefore, it was not a matter of an internal security breach.

The Children’s Museum of Oswego has successfully completed its initial funding campaign, The First 40. The campaign was designed to reach a goal of $40,000 through the generous gift of $1,000 from 40 individuals, businesses and foundations in and around the Oswego County area. It was CMOO’s ambition to pursue donors who believe strongly in the mission and vision of the museum.

Park Hall, reopened this semester at the end of a two-year, $17.5 million modernization, as did a soaring new entrance to the School of Education. Park’s top-to-bottom renovation features a wealth of new opportunities for collaborative teaching and learning, from a more visible Center for Urban Schools to innovative partnerships with the sciences and mathematics in the now-connected Richard S. Shineman Center for Science, Engineering and Innovation.

The fire chief will present his findings to the council later this spring. The mayor and councilors will incorporate that information into their own study of how to restructure the department.

UPDATE:  State Police are now re-classifying yesterday’s suspicious death as a homicide

The victim, Anthony J. Miller, age 46, was found deceased, around 4 p.m. Feb. 3 by friends at his mobile home located at the Indian Hills Mobile Park.

The Oswego Fire Department announces the retirement of Firefighter William F. Delapp effective January 30,  2014, after more than 32 years of dedicated service. Appointed September 14, 1981, Bill spent his entire career as a member of “D” Shift.

SUNY Oswego is bringing a warm front to the February cold spell and invites the community to celebrate National Random Acts of Kindness Week. February 10 – 4, those on SUNY Oswego campus and middle school students in APW, Fulton, Mexico, Oswego, Phoenix and Sandy Creek school districts will be receiving Random Acts of Kindness cards to Go.Do.Good. around our community.

UPDATE:  The Bridge Street bridge in Oswego is re-opened.

Centro routes are back to normal, but may become delayed due to heavy traffic at times.

Crews from National Grid were installing four new light poles in the area West First and Bridge streets Friday afternoon when they discovered a flow of water. Workers were excavating attempting to find the source of the leak and fix it.
